West-Mont United Soccer Association (WMUSA) Travel Program Information

WMUSA has made a commitment to provide the highest quality coaches, fields, facilities, and development programs to our players.  As the modern landscape of soccer continues to change globally, WMUSA will continue to strive for excellence by offering the highest level of training for all members of our travel program.

Below you will find the WMUSA Development Pathway for members of our travel teams.

The West-Mont United Player Development Pathway is formed by three streams of play: recreational, competitive, and premier (the high performance arm of US’s soccer landscape).

Our pathway is built around the principles of long-term player development and encourages lifelong participation. At West-Mont United, we believe all players deserve the best possible soccer experience, and our West-Mont United Pathway is designed to place their needs front and centre at each and every stage.

Our travel program provides development opportunities in 3 distinct stages:

Step 1 is the Academy Program for U7 & U8 players.  Our Academy provides a technical development program that offers a fun, educational environment for our youngest players to learn. The program is lead by Jesse Martinez and WMUSA’s professional coaching staff.  Invited players from tryouts will receive extra training in preparation for potential placement into the U9 travel soccer program.  The goal is to build on an existing love of soccer with an emphasis on individual ball skill development starting at U7 and U8 to better prepare players with the necessary skills needed to compete at the travel level.

Step 2 is the WMUSA travel program for U9-U19 players.  This program provides training 2 days per week by our professional coaching staff with participation in league, tournament and state cup play.  Our travel program is made up of 3 teams at each age level:

United Teams: The United teams are designed to provide a platform to develop technically superior and tactically astute soccer players in a progressive and dynamic training environment - dedicated towards individual player development and team play.

Union Teams: The Union teams are designed to offer a comprehensive soccer experience to all players at this level. Trained by a professional coaching staff, members of these teams will participate in league play and tournaments throughout the year.

Lazers Teams: The Lazers teams receive training from professional coaches or well qualified parent-coaches.  These teams participate in training sessions twice a week, league play and tournaments throughout the season.

Step 3 is the West-Mont United Premier Teams for players U13-U19.  WMU Premier will offer the elite soccer player the ability to compete at the state and regional level starting at U13. WMU Premier pledges to hold the highest level of standards throughout its program in both training and competition.  The staff will consist of high level, professional coaches who train and compete within the framework of the four pillars of soccer (Technical, Tactical, Physical and Psychosocial).
