West-Mont Lazers vs. Springfield Sizzle
Game Summary

Since last week's game was cancelled due to rain, our fall season officially started with this game. The day was hot and humid with little to no breeze blowing, making it a hard day to run. The Sizzle scored first, and then again, but the Lazers did not give up and were able to get on the board with a high corner shot from Maddie P. At the half the Sizzle were up 3-1, but with solid defense and a few great saves by goalie Cassie R., they were unable to increase their lead. As the final seconds ticked off, Brenna M. was able to bounce a ball off the post and past the Sizzle's goalie ending the game in a 3-2 loss, even though the referee did not acknowledge this goal, all the girls on the field knew a goal had been scored.

The final words from Coach Dan & Coach Scott were "Girls, you played your hearts out. This is only one game and it is a long season. Go home and watch the end of the Giants game."

West-Mont Lazers vs. Ridley United Rough Riders
Game Summary

Our first home game of the season did not disappoint. We had an early scoring opportunity with a penalty kick - Laura B had a high bullet that hit the cross bar setting the tone for the game. Both teams played an even game until Madden S hit the goal from the wing position giving the Lazers a 1-0 lead just before half time. The second half started with the Lazers coming out as aggressive as the first half. After peppering the Rider's goalie, Maddie N was able to put a hard shot past her to give the Lazers a 2-0 lead in the game. As the game progressed, the Rough Riders had a breakaway where goalie Cassie R was able to initially stop the goal by taking away the long shot, but was unable to reach a top corner shot making the game 2-1. Both teams tried to add to the score but the defensive play on both sides kept the ball from finding the net. Olivia M and Abby O played outstanding defense and mid-field to keep everyone on the edge of their seats. At the final whistle the girls celebrated their first win of the season.

West-Mont Lazers vs. Radnor Flames
Game Summary

The day was overcast with a bit of humidity, but the weather did not stop the game. An early breakaway by Lindsay S set the tone for the game. Even though her shot soared over the net, the Flames' defense knew it was in for a challenge as the game progressed. Soon thereafter, the Lazers set up for a corner kick by Lauren T. She sent the ball to the far side of the goal where Abby O put it into the back of the net. The Flames' offense had a hard time getting anything going because Laura B, Olivia M & Brenna Mc harassed them anytime they put the ball on their side of the field. As the half wound down, the clouds started to gather and the temperature dropped sharply. Soon after half time began, thunder and lightning started and the referee called the game giving the Lazers the win with a score of 1-0.

West-Mont Lazers vs. TEYSA Sole Sisters
Game Summary

It was a beautiful sunny day for this soccer game. The girls had a new experience as the field we used was turf. The Lazers had a tough time in the first half adjusting to the quickness and bounces of the ball on the field. The 2nd half was better, but they were unable to find the back of the net and lost this one 1-0.

Whitewater Classic Tournament
Game Summary

After the team spent Saturday relaxing and staying up late, they were ready for the soccer games to begin. First, we faced the Upper Dublin Heat at 11:00. The action was fast paced with scores coming from Brenna M, Maddie N, Lindsay S, and Chloe B. The Lazers won the game 4-1. The next opponent, AC Perugia Grifos '96, didn't allow the offense a chance to find the net. The game ended on a 5-0 loss. The last game of the day was for 3rd place in the tournament division and the Lazers faced off against the Smithtown Lightning. The game was back and forth with the Lightning scoring first and the Lazers tying it up. The Lightning was able to find the back of the net one more time, ending the game in a 1-2 loss.

Even though we finished 4th, the MVP goes to our goalies Cassie R, who played with a broken finger, and Lauren M, who refused to be intimated and went after any ball that came her way, regardless of who was in front of her.

West-Mont Lazers vs. Haverford Thunder
Game Summary

This game was the make up from week one that was rained out and it was the coldest game the girls have played this season. The Lazers got on the board with a hard shot from Maddie N that the Thunder goalie was unable to hold on to. Soon thereafter, Lindsay S put the ball in the net by shooting it through the goalie's legs. The Thunder had a hard time finding any offense as Laura B & Cayla D played shut-down defense. The mid-field play of Chloe B, Gabi D and Amber S helped keep the ball on Thunder's side of the field enabling Brenna M to score the final goal of the game.

It was a beautiful sunny day for this soccer game after a very rainy Saturday. The Lazers came out strong against the first place Caspians. The girls had a few scoring chances, but when they did they were unable to put the ball in the net. They lost the game 5-0. The coaches were proud of the girls in that they never gave up and even though they were losing, still tried to score against their opponents.

West-Mont Lazers vs. Interboro Gunners
Game Summary

On a cold, somewhat sunny day, the Lazers faced off against a team they hadn't seen since early last season. The game started off with a fast breakaway by the Lazers, but the shot on goal was wide. The tone was set and the offense harassed the Interboro goalie for the whole half, but were unable to score. Interboro was first on the board late in the 2nd half. With the game clock ticking down, Maddie P and Maddie N collaborated to tie the game. As the ball was set to start after the goal the ref blew her whistle ending the game in a 1-1 tie.

This game was very evenly matched and all the girls stepped up their play. From goalie, defense, midfield to offense the girls played at a different level for this game.
